Seven English majors presented nine original research papers at three outside undergraduate institutions in the U.S. They were:
- New Critics Conference in Oneonta, NY—Brian Hicks presented “The Stagnant Heart: Childe Roland’s Internal Journey” and Tanya Poole’s “Injustice of Male Medical Defenders in Chaucer’s ‘The Physician’s Tale.”
- Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove, PA: Lindsay Baille presented “Sovereignty’s Struggle: A Wife’s Voice.” Samantha Cheyenne Miller presented “Accepting Responsibility: The Loss of Humanity in Passion Play and the York Play of Crucifixion.” Brian Hicks presented “A Fire Within: The Flames in Morrison’s Sula.” Finally, Brian Van Duyne presented “The Whiteness of the Reader: Race Representation a nd Interpretation in Herman Melville’s Benito Cereno” and Nicole Mark presented “The Perks of Being an English Teacher.”
- Streamlines Conference at Lorus College in Iowa: Laura Dellova presented “The Pardoner’s Tale and Karma” and Brian Hicks presented “Written Authority and Lived Experience:Enemies or Allies?”.
